Yuba City, CA

Client:
Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency (SBFCA)

OVERVIEW

The Oroville Wildlife Area (OWA) Project is a $25 million-dollar multi-benefit project featuring flood control, recreation, and ecosystem restoration improvements. The OWA Project augments the existing system of inflow and outflow weirs to safely divert additional floodwaters through the OWA and reduce flood stages within the main channel of the Feather River. In addition to the flood control weir improvements, the project also degrades a section of the existing dike to reconnect the Feather River to its historic floodplain. The project incorporates invasive species removal, new riparian restoration plantings and floodplain grading modifications to enhance fish passage and to improve wetland and fish rearing habitat for salmonids. The project also includes the construction of new recreational footbridges and grading work to provide improved river access, public parking, and site access improvements. Mr. Fritz managed all phases of the project throughout the formulation, alternatives analysis, design, environmental/permitting, and construction.
